Advisory Board - Investment Banking

Murray & Company benefits from the involvement of an exceptional Advisory Board comprising international experts in governance, investment banking and asset management. Members are based respectively in NZ, Australia, Singapore and the UK. The purpose of the Advisory Board is to:-

  • Provide independent guidance and oversight to the Directors and professionals of Murray & Company;
  • Provide information as to emerging political, economic and industry themes globally;
  • Alert Murray & Company to opportunities for our clients;
  • Further strengthen our financial and strategic advisory credentials; and
  • Enhance our domestic and international reach by leveraging the networks of Advisory Board Members.

The Members of our Advisory Board are:-

Mark Barnaba
Mark is co-founder and Executive Chairman of leading Western Australian merchant bank, Azure Capital. He was previously with Goldman Sachs and also spent a long period with McKinsey & Company in the USA, UK and RSA. Mark is Chairman of the University of Western Australia Business School. He is also Deputy Chairman of the West Coast Eagles Football Club and is a board member of the Securities Industry Research Centre of Asia Pacific. Mark holds a BCom (first class honours) from the University of Western Australia and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with high distinction as a Baker Scholar.
Ravi Chidambaram
Ravi is co-founder and President of successful Singapore-based investment bank, TC Capital, which is focused on M&A and capital raising for Asian mid-caps and family enterprises. He was previously with Goldman Sachs where he worked on various landmark telecom privatizations and helped devise the firm’s entry strategy for India. He also ran Deutsche Bank’s Asian telecom practice in investment banking and subsequently was a Managing Director Principal at Bear Stearns in London. Ravi holds a BA in Political Economy from Duke University, an MBA from Wharton School and an MA from University of Pennsylvania and was also a Fulbright Scholar in Economics.
Hilton Nathanson
Hilton is founder, Chief Investment Officer and Co-Managing Partner of Marble Bar Asset Management LLP, a London-based multi-strategy hedge fund which manages over USD 3bn for wealthy individuals and institutional investors globally. Hilton was initially with Goldman Sachs in London, then traded futures on the LIFFE floor before starting to trade his first fund. Marble Bar now comprises 70 people structured as a team of traders supported by programmers, statisticians, fundamental analysts, dealers and data gatherers. Hilton is originally from Australia and holds a BCom from the University of Western Australia and an MBA from London City University.
Tom Reilley
Tom is Founder and Managing Director of Kalan Capital LLP, a London-based principal investor and fund manager in hard asset industries, including real estate, shipping, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, renewable energy and healthcare. He was previously a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns International in London where he served on the firm’s Executive Committee and was Head of Private Client Services for Europe and Middle East. Tom received a BA from the University of Minnesota.

Hans Van Hoof 
Hans has held senior positions within European financial institutions for almost 20 years. During this time he has been: senior portfolio manager with PVF Pensionfunds in Amsterdam, responsible for USD 2.5bn European equity funds; senior risk manager and Deputy Head of global derivatives with Paribas Capital Markets in London; Managing Director with Bankers Trust in London responsible for M&A arbitrage and VC investments. Following this he was CEO and Chairman of Soros Funds Ltd. He then founded and was Managing Partner of VHC Partners LLP and VHC International Ltd, an investment management group based in Jersey which ultimately managed some USD 850m. In 2006 Hans withdrew from operational involvement with VHC and has since been involved in various projects including charitable and private equity investments. Hans also has various directorships in companies in Canada, the UK and USA.
