Murray & Co acted as sole financial advisor to NZ software company Seequent and its controlling shareholder Accel-KKR on the acquisition of Geosoft, Inc.
Seequent provides geological modelling and 3D visualisation software widely used throughout the mining industry globally as well as in the civil construction and geothermal energy sectors (Leapfrog software). The company has 240 employees and offices in 13 countries. Based in Menlo Park, Accel-KKR is one of the world’s pre-eminent specialist software private equity investors, with over US$5 billion in capital commitments. Murray & Co previously acted as sole financial advisor to Seequent on its sale to Accel-KKR.
Geosoft’s Oasis montaj® software is the global industry standard for analysing geophysics data and its Target for ArcGIS software is the market-leading geological application for ESRI ArcPRO. Users include government geological surveys, mining and oil & gas companies, engineering consultancies and universities. The company has over 120 employees across North America, Europe, Australia, Latin America and Africa
The acquisition combines two of the world’s leading specialist geoscience software companies. The combination is expected to result in more seamless workflows between early stage exploration (Geosoft) and late stage exploration, mine planning and modelling (Seequent) as well as to accelerate both companies’ growth in the environmental segment and consolidating their positions in the energy segment.
The combined company will have annual revenue of approximately NZ$80 million.
