Justin founded Murray & Co in 2004 after returning to New Zealand from an investment banking career in London with Rothschild, Bankers Trust and Bear Stearns, where he was a Managing Director Principal. He has over 26 years' transactional and advisory experience across a range of industries, in New Zealand and offshore. He was previously a commercial lawyer. Justin holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury, was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court, was approved by the UK Financial Services Authority, has undertaken executive education at Harvard Business School and is a certified member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand. He is Chairman of Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement, the JV company responsible for reinstating the Anglican Cathedral in Christchurch. He is also a Crown appointed Director of Christchurch International Airport and is Chairman of its Property & Commercial Committee. He was previously Deputy-Chairman of the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust Advisory Board.

Chris joined Murray & Co in 2006 after a successful career in senior finance roles with large corporates both offshore and in New Zealand. Chris has extensive experience in corporate transactions and the provision of strategic and financial advice from an array of successful projects at Murray & Co, as well as his prior corporate roles. Following initial experience gained at Price Waterhouse in New Zealand, Chris moved overseas where he worked for four years with Inchcape plc in the UK and Asia, culminating in a role as CFO in Japan. Chris returned to New Zealand in 1999 where he worked as both CFO then COO for Ngai Tahu before joining Murray & Co. Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury and is a member of Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand. Chris is also on the Board of Trustees of the Christchurch Symphony Foundation and is a member of the Management and Finance Board for the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch.

Philip joined Murray & Co in 2015 after a 15 year investment banking career at Morgan Stanley in London and Singapore, where he was a Managing Director and head of Southeast Asia M&A. He has substantial experience across all sectors, including natural resources, financial institutions, consumer & retail, telecoms, media & technology, healthcare, real estate and industrial. Prior to his investment banking career, Philip worked at the New Zealand Treasury and in the Beehive as Economic Advisor to the New Zealand Minister of Finance. Philip has Commerce and Law degrees from the University of Auckland and was awarded the University’s Senior Scholarship in Accounting & Finance as well as various other academic prizes.

Brett joined Murray & Co in 2013 after spending over 11 years as an investment banker in New Zealand and the UK. Prior to joining Murray & Co, Brett worked for BNP Paribas in London as Vice President in the Energy, Power and Infrastructure Group where he acted as financial adviser and funder to infrastructure companies, acquisitions, projects and PPP/PFI procurements. Prior to this, Brett spent six years as an investment banker in Auckland including five years with Goldman Sachs JBWere and one year with Credit Suisse First Boston where he was involved in the execution of M&A, debt and equity market transactions across multiple industries. Brett holds a Master of Business (Finance) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Otago.

A lawyer by background, Clare has played an integral role in the establishment and growth of Murray & Co. Her responsibilities have covered overseeing the compliance framework of the firm, driving business development, marketing and communications, community relations and HR. Prior to Murray & Co, Clare was a Senior Solicitor with Clifford Chance in London involved in international capital markets transactions including Eurobonds, project financing and structured finance initially as adviser to arrangers, later specialising in advising corporate trustees in relation to restructurings and defaulted debt securities. She holds a Master of Arts (Music) from Oxford University, Law Society Finals from De Montfort University and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. Clare is a Board Member of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and a Director of Whai Rawa Fund Limited.
